Sudoku X is a variation of the popular number puzzle Sudoku. Sudoku X for Beginners is the first book I have written on this topic. As the title suggests, no prior knowledge is required. The book begins with a short introduction and explanation. If you are completely new to Sudoku and are not familiar with the standard version, I would recommend the books Sudoku for Beginners and Sudoku Strategies.

In addition to an introduction to Sudoku X, the book contains a total of 200 number puzzles of this variant. It is available on Amazon* for $9.99 (£7.99 / EUR 9.99 plus VAT). The puzzles are printed in large type and do not require a magnifying glass to solve.

What is the difference between this variant and standard Sudoku?
Standard Sudoku consists of 9 rows and 9 columns (other dimensions are also possible, of course), making a total of 81 cells. We also divide it into 9 blocks, each consisting of 3 rows and 3 columns. At the beginning, some of these cells are already filled with numbers. The aim of the game is to fill in the remaining numbers so that each digit appears exactly once per row, per column, and per block.
So much for the familiar rules of Sudoku. Sudoku X is a variant that comes closest to the original. It is also often referred to as X-Sudoku or Diagonal Sudoku.
Compared to “normal” Sudoku, there is an additional rule. In addition to the rows, columns, and blocks, the numbers 1 to 9 may also only appear exactly once on the two main diagonals. This restriction does not exist in standard Sudoku. The following image shows an example of a diagonal Sudoku, with the diagonals marked:
